Welcome to the Glenelg Yacht Club
Located at the Holdfast Quays Marina (locally known as the ‘Patawalonga’), with access via a lock capable of handling boats up to 24.0m long
and 5.5m wide, Glenelg Yacht Club is a new yacht club, with a big difference. Our low-cost memberships allow everyone to take part in sailing
or power boat activities, without the high costs normally associated with yacht club memberships and berth ownership.
With a strong focus on social outings and functions, Glenelg Yacht Club is run “by boaties, for boaties”, to ensure that we offer facilities,
services and social events that are tailored to the needs of our membership.
Our no-nonsense approach is a breath of fresh air to the yachting and boating scene in South Australia, and our low overheads, and therefore
low costs, mean that becoming a member of a yacht club is within everyone’s reach.
While we maintain a strong focus on social events, we are committed to our primary goal of improving facilities, representing our
membership, and for improving facilities for boat owners state wide. State governments and local councils provide considerable resources
and facilities for small boat operators, but the owners of keel yachts, and larger power boats require very different facilities.
The lack of public swing moorings at popular locations means many boats are forced to anchor, often resulting in damage to seabed plant-life,
especially when, due to seaweed covered bottoms, anchors drag, causing considerable ecological damage. The simple act of installing a
mooring can prevent this on-going damage.
